Life on Life Leadership is one life investing in the life of others with the purpose of helping another grow from unbelief to belief, to  growth as mature and equipped followers of Christ and leaders who go and do like wise.  Life on Life Leadership is sharing lives as well as the gospel in making disciples.  As Paul puts it perfectly, “Having so fond affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own life because you had become very dear to us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Eight Principles for Life on Life Leadership, A Manual for Building Discipling Leaders has been prepared for ministry and discipleship leaders.  It focuses on the eight principles found to be an effective, biblical approach to Life on Life discipleship in the classic book on discipleship, The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman. The eight discipling principles in Coleman’s book are Selection, Association, Consecration, Impartation, Demonstration, Delegation, Supervision, and Reproduction.

This manual is not to be read cover to cover, but to be flipped through, dog-eared, talked over, and prayed about for a lifetime of discipling others. It is intended to be used by disciplers together with a peer, mentor, or leadership coach.  It can also be used in a leadership development classroom setting or gone through on your own. Instead of just reading about what you should be doing, this manual is full of tools that will help you put each principle into practice as you learn about them.

Each section for the eight principles contains the following:

2. Outcomes – a page to help you evaluate how you are doing with that principle in your ministry and to select exercises for improvement.

3. Exercises – pages that provide you with practical things to do in order to take the principle to the next level in your ministry.  Each exercise provides a step-by-step guide with a suggested time given in the margin as a guideline for the amount of time you should invest.

4. Coaching Encounters – worksheets to help you and your peer, mentor, or coach work on goals, actions, and options to take your ministry to others to the next level.  Together you will decide how to improve your skills and effectiveness as a discipler and leader.

A note of encouragement: Mastery of these principles only comes through a lifetime commitment of discipleship and ministering to others.  Take your time incorporating these skills into your ministry. As you learn Jesus’ Master Plan you will become a reproducing leader, having the privilege and honor of obeying Jesus’ great command, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
