The Prodigal God

The title of Tim Keller's book, The Prodigal God, intrigued me. I began to think of ways that our God could possibly be called "prodigal."  Could it be that He is spending our inheritance? No!  Could it be that He is  running away from us, sowing wild oats? Never! Could it be that He is eating with pigs and wants to come back to us and when He does, we will have a party for Him? Absolutely not!

I was too curious, I bought this little book.  One of many things I learned is simply this: Webster's dictionary defines prodigal as 1. recklessly extravagant 2. having spent everything  3. one who gives lavishly and foolishly.  Read the parable of Luke 15:11-32 with these thoughts in mind and you will most likely add to your list of praises and adorations toward God the word - Prodigal.

The Prodigal God is a great book to pass on to others. Now I think I'll read another book by Tim Keller, The Reason For God.  It has me thinking.   Love, Cheryl
