I am doing some study for someone who is writing a new book. I was reminded of this about Human Hierarchy.
Relationships - Genesis 1-2
• Men and Women are the image of God.
• Man was created first.
• Men and Women are called to rule the earth.
• Male headship and female helpership together accomplish the task of ruling the earth.
• God called man to exercise his authority over the animals by naming each one.
• No appropriate coworker for man was found among the animals.
• God formed woman out of man, and gave her to the man, she was to share in his rule and work.
• Man named the woman, reflecting his headship relationship of authority toward her.
• In Chapter 3 man's headship authority was called on by God to answer for sin.
• Male headship was in place before the entrance of sin.
The Curse and Grace- Genesis 3
• Human relationships are painfully distorted by sin BUT not totally destroyed.
• The serpent (Satan) is hostile toward humanity BUT will be destroyed by the woman's Seed.
• The land resists man BUT yields to hard work.
• Pain accompanies childbirth BUT beautiful, healthy children are born.
• In marriage wives seek to rule husbands BUT God has given male headship and she is unable to achieve her goal this way.
The order of hierarchy at the temptation was:
Satan -- serpent -- Woman -- Man.
The order of hierarchy should have been,
God -- Man -- Woman -- serpent -- with Satan, the liar excluded.
What do you think?
Studying,
Cheryl
